The Cumming pool builder who booked 18 projects in one spring.
A two-superintendent pool builder on the west side of Lake Lanier was averaging 7 spring builds. By the end of his first spring with us, he’d signed 18 — and locked in his summer pipeline through October.

Seven spring builds. Then a brutal summer.
Here’s the thing. The owner had a brutal cadence problem. He’d sign 7 builds in March/April, finish them by August, then spend September through February praying for referrals. The seasonal whiplash meant he could never staff a third crew with confidence — every winter he was one bad month from layoffs.
His service area covered the Cumming–Suwanee–west-Lake-Lanier corridor. Plenty of buyers. Plenty of $90K–$160K backyards waiting to happen. He just couldn’t reach them on the schedule that mattered. By the time most homeowners started searching “pool builder Cumming” in March, his calendar was already half-booked from referrals and there was nothing left for paid acquisition to fill.
His marketing was thin. A Yelp listing with 9 reviews. A GBP that hadn’t been updated since 2022. A website built by a friend’s nephew for $1,400 in 2020. Marketing spend totaled $700/month, all of it on Yelp Ads. Closing rate from Yelp: 6%. He needed real lead flow during the December-through-February window — and a funnel that compounded year-round, not just in storm season.
“Every spring I’m wondering if this is the year I have to lay guys off. I don’t want to live like that anymore.”
Real talk: the cadence problem is the silent killer in pool building. The work itself is profitable when crews are running. The math destroys you when crews go idle. Solving the cadence problem means building a funnel that generates qualified inquiries 12 months a year, so signed contracts in December guarantee crews are working in April.
One year of funnel work between them.
Same crews, same trucks, same superintendent. Different cadence.

Two tries. Neither worked in winter.
You’ve probably noticed — most pool builders try seasonal-only marketing and wonder why their winters die.
Try one: A spring Google Ads blitz. $2,400 in March alone. Generated 19 leads, signed 2 jobs. The other 17 chose competitors who’d been talking to them since January. By the time he showed up in March, the decision was already made.
Try two: A home show booth in February. $3,800 for the booth and prep. 47 business-card swaps. One signed build, no winter pipeline.
Cumming homeowners don’t decide on a pool in March. They decide in November. The pool builder they pick in March is the one whose name they’ve been seeing since fall.— A line from our diagnostic call he later quoted on Instagram
That’s the unlock. Pool buyers in Cumming, Suwanee, and the broader Forsyth corridor are 4–7 months out on average — meaning the firms winning the spring booking war are the ones who built top-of-funnel visibility starting the prior September. We needed to build that visibility, then convert it on the cadence the buyer was already on.
We started in October. For a spring close.
Five months of top-of-funnel infrastructure before the spring rush. By the time competitors woke up in March, this builder was already on the shortlist for 60+ Cumming households.
How the winter funnel was built.
Same playbook we run for every pool builder client dealing with cadence problems.
GBP rebuild + 14 neighborhood pages, launched in October.
We started the engagement in October — five months ahead of the spring decision window. New GBP with 64 photos, correct categories, weekly Google Posts. 14 neighborhood landing pages for Vickery, Hampton Park, The Hampton Golf Village, Polo Fields, James Creek, Saddle Creek, and the rest. By the time homeowners started researching in November and December, this builder was the first one they saw.
Winter-budget Meta ads.
$1,800/mo Oct–Feb. Soft-funnel creative — “planning your 2026 backyard?” — not hard-sell. Pre-warmed buyers for spring close.
Design consult model.
$400 deposit for an in-home design session. Locked commitment in December for March builds. Filtered tire kickers.
Spring-only Google LSAs.
LSA spend started March 1, scaled to $3,200 by April 15. By then the organic + GBP work had already loaded the calendar half-full. LSAs filled the remaining slots at $54 cost-per-lead — a fraction of the cold-traffic rate competitors were paying.

GBP rebuild. 14 neighborhood pages live. First two drone shoots. Soft-funnel Meta creative launched.
Pre-warming
Map pack hits #1 for primary keyword by Jan 18. Design consult deposits start landing in late December. 96 winter inquiries captured.
Spring close
LSAs turned on. 18 signed builds inside the spring window. Calendar booked through October. Third crew hired in April.

$1.94M in spring contracts. Year-round cadence solved.
18 signed builds for the spring at an average contract of $108K. Total spring revenue: $1.94M. More importantly: the third crew got hired in April with full confidence, because the winter funnel was already producing the next batch of fall installs. The cadence problem isn’t gone — it’s structurally inverted. Now the slow months are summer (when crews are heads-down on builds), not winter.
Inbound pool inquiries by month.
Winter is the spring’s leading indicator. Builders who wait for March to start marketing lose the booking war by April.

Six rules for fixing pool-build cadence.
Stop marketing seasonally for a seasonal business. The buyers are 4–7 months ahead of you.
Start your spring funnel in October
By March, every Cumming and Forsyth pool buyer has already shortlisted. Be on the list by November.
Soft-funnel Meta creative all winter
“Planning your 2026 backyard?” — not “Call now for spring availability.” Awareness, not closing, in Q4.
Neighborhood pages, not city pages
The map pack rewards specificity. Vickery, Hampton Park, James Creek — each gets its own.
Charge a design deposit
$400 in December credited to a March build. Locks commitment before competitors get a chance.
Save the LSAs for March
Don’t blow LSA budget in October. By March, the organic funnel has half-loaded the calendar — LSAs just top it off.
Hire the third crew on a winter signal, not a spring one
If your winter inquiries are tracking up YoY, the crew hire is safe. Stop waiting until May to commit.

Anonymized composite. Real numbers from a real Cumming pool-builder engagement.
You can capture some spring spillover, but the high-intent buyers have already shortlisted by then. Starting late means competing on price for the buyers who haven’t decided yet. The bigger win is building infrastructure now for next year’s spring close.
No. One per city, per geo.
Yes. Roughly 18% of inquiries balk at the deposit — those are tire kickers we filter out. Of the buyers who pay, around 84% sign a contract within 90 days.
Same playbook works at any scale. Smaller service area means fewer neighborhood pages and tighter geo-fenced ads — but the cadence logic is identical.
